Removal of archived Moodle courses from Moodle at the turn of the year 2025-2026
The teacher sets the availability period for the Moodle course, and after the course ends, it is usually archived. At the end of 2025, archived courses in Moodle that ended in 2024 or earlier will be removed – remember to save any necessary materials in time.
The teacher determines how long a Moodle course is open to students. After the course has ended, teachers usually archive the Moodle course. Archived course is in reading mode. The materials can be read, but study attainments, such as the submission of assignments, can no longer be completed.
How to identify an archived Moodle course
- At the end of the course name, there is the start date/end date of the course (in the format year-month-day).
- On the front page of the course, there are ARCHIVE/ARCHIVE watermarks.
An archived course with an end date in 2024 or earlier will be removed from the Moodle at the end of 2025. This is due to the statutory retention and destruction periods of study attainments.

Remember to save your own works and the course materials needed from the courses which will be removed, for example on your own computer or OneDrive.
