Results of the Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme Recruitment for Short-Term Positions in 2026
The recruitment process for the short-term researcher positions for 2026 has been successfully concluded. The positions ranged from three to six months and totalled up to five person-years. These positions were announced in the call “Multiple short-term doctoral researcher positions in the Health and Biosciences doctoral programme”.
During the application period from May 1 to August 31, 2025, a total of 36 applications were received: 25 from female and 11 from male applicants. Among these applicants, 26 were based in Finland, while the remaining candidates came from Africa, Asia, and Middle East. A total of 22 applications included all the required documents and met the eligibility criteria, and were therefore selected for evaluation.
The eligible applications were evaluated by the Doctoral Programme Committee of Health and Biosciences, with all potential conflicts of interest appropriately taken into account. Evaluation and ranking were based on the applicant’s competence, the quality of the research (scientific quality, novelty, innovativeness), the feasibility of the research plan, and an overall assessment. Additionally, the graduate school guidelines incorporate a gender perspective by ensuring that, when there are equally qualified top candidates, preference is given to a candidate from the underrepresented gender in the field.
Following the evaluation, all applicants who received the highest ranking points and met the required selection criteria were offered positions. In total,13 applicants were selected, of whom 8 were female, and 5 were male.
We congratulate the selected candidates and thank all applicants for their interest in these positions.
