Results of the Second Funding Call: Field-Specific Doctoral Courses and Other Activities for 2026 (HS-DEC and TNS-DEC)

The University of Oulu’s second internal funding call for field-specific doctoral courses and other activities supporting doctoral training was open from 2 March to 1 April 2026. The Doctoral Education Committees for Human Sciences (HS-DEC) and Technology and Natural Sciences (TNS-DEC) have decided to award funding to 12 activities.

The University of Oulu’s second internal funding call for field-specific doctoral courses and other activities supporting doctoral training was open from 2 March to 1 April 2026. Funding was available through the following Doctoral Education Committees: Human Sciences (8,863 €), Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (16,610 €), and Technology and Natural Sciences (23,824 €).

During the application period, a total of 36 applications were submitted. The Doctoral Education Committees for Human Sciences (HS-DEC) and Technology and Natural Sciences (TNS-DEC) evaluated the applications in meetings held on 21–22 April 2026. The Doctoral Education Committee for Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE-DEC) postponed its funding decisions to its next meeting, scheduled for 21 May 2026.

The evaluation focused particularly on the relevance, quality, and cost-effectiveness of the proposed activities. Funding was awarded to field-specific courses and events primarily intended for doctoral researchers at the University of Oulu. In total, 12 activities received funding.
