TENK Recommendation “Artificial Intelligence in Research: Research Integrity and Ethical Principles” Published

The Finnish National Board on Research Integrity (TENK) published a national ethical recommendation in June 2026 titled Artificial Intelligence in Research: Research Integrity and Ethical Principles.

The recommendation supports the scientific and research community in identifying, assessing, and managing ethical issues and risks related to the development, study, and use of artificial intelligence.

The key message of the recommendation is that the ethical principles of research do not change with technological development. The core principles of good scientific practice—reliability, honesty, respect, and responsibility—also apply to the development and use of artificial intelligence in research. The researcher always bears responsibility for the content of the research, the conclusions drawn, and the reliability of the work.
