University of Oulu among the world’s top 500 universities
The University of Oulu is ranked 401–500 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), the same position as in 2024. In the national comparison, the University of Oulu shares second place. A total of seven Finnish universities were included in the ranking.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities, commonly known as the Shanghai Ranking, is one of the most recognised and respected international university rankings. It lists the top 1,000 universities in the world.
Indicators used in the ranking include the number of scientific publications, the number of highly cited researchers, the number of publications in Nature and Science, and Nobel and Fields Prizes awarded to alumni and staff.
