The use of artificial intelligence in the preparation of the research plan must be disclosed both at the application stage and in the doctoral training plan
In the research plan submitted during the doctoral study right application phase and in the doctoral researcher’s doctoral training plan, it must be stated whether artificial intelligence has been used in their preparation. In addition, the Supervision Plan, and Commitment by Supervisors and Research Unit form must indicate whether the responsible use of artificial intelligence has been discussed and reported accordingly.
Doctoral researchers at the University of Oulu are required to follow the university’s guidelines on the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in research and to adhere to the recommendations of the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity (TENK), Artificial Intelligence in Research: Research Integrity and Ethical Principles, as well as the EU guidelines on the responsible use of AI.
Researchers must follow the principles of good scientific practice—reliability, honesty, respect, and responsibility—also when developing or using artificial intelligence in research. Researcher is always responsible for the content and reliability of their own research.
