Valovoima Award for impactful work in teaching and guidance​ - Who would you nominate?

Who deserves credit for promoting cooperation and building community spirit?

In December 2025, the University of Oulu will launch a new “Northern Pedagogy” celebration tradition, during which employees distinguished in teaching and guidance will be recognized with the Valovoima Award. This year, the theme of both the celebration and the awards is community and collaboration, which arises from our university’s values and strategy.

As a student, you can also make a difference! Do you know any teaching and guidance staff of the University of Oulu who, for example:

  • has created a good team spirit and supported community spirit and cooperation during the course?
  • has promoted cooperation in your degree program?
  • has built bridges between degree programs, faculties, or higher education institutions?
  • brought students or the university and working life closer together?

Take this opportunity to highlight the teaching and guidance staff in your degree programme by nominating them for the award. Submit your proposal via the Webropol form by October 31, 2025.

All proposals are submitted to the deans of education for evaluation, and the final decision on the five recipients is made by the vice rector for education.
