VisitAnts Come-and-GOulu Grants
Biodiverse Anthropocenes thinks the world of mobility! And we would like to facilitate scientific mobility in our members with the aim of building networks, generating collaborations, and stimulating exciting innovations and insights in scientific research on biodiversity and society. To this end, we have launched our VisitAnts Come-and-GOulu Grant programme. This mobility initiative offers our members at Oulu the opportunity to visit other institutions within Finland (or abroad) or to invite scholars to come to Oulu in order to collaborate on research, writing or funding application activities. A mobility visit can have any number of purposes, but the anticipated action must further the aims of Biodiverse Anthropocenes (https://www.oulu.fi/en/biodiverse-anthropocenes).
Proposed initiatives may take place across a broad range of natural and social science and humanities disciplines (e.g., anthropology, archaeology, biology, ecology, education, environmental humanities, geography, history, medicine, philosophy, etc.). They may also have a citizen science or a creative component.
Beginning in March 2022, grants will be offered going forward on a rolling basis (i.e. there is no deadline), though awards are subject to funding availability. Both incoming and outgoing visits can range between 2 weeks and 6 months. The grant paid is intended to cover basic living costs (e.g., accommodation and food) as well as travel costs to/from Oulu. Note that these grants do not cover conference or workshop participation; they are intended for directed institutional visits in order to produce high-caliber scientific outputs.
Applications for both incoming and outgoing grants must include the following: cover letter (max 1 page), mobility plan including a schedule for activities and outputs (max 2 pages); budget (max 2 pages; please follow these guidelines or calculating per diems); and CV (max 4 pages). We will do our best to respond to applications with a decision within one month of submission. To apply, please visit HERE.
