We are seeking a Research Director for Sustainable Energy Business

Our current research areas include micro-entrepreneurship, regional excellence, and future manufacturing technologies. The role of the Research Director involves initiating a new research area in the field of sustainable energy business.

The activities in this research area will be launched through the EU-funded Value-added Sustainable Energy Business project, for which the incoming Research Director will be responsible for content leadership. Connecting global value chains with Finnish ecosystems is a key method for achieving new competitiveness, employment, and sustainable growth. The project aims to create a knowledge base, operational models, and tools that support the optimization of value chains in the green transition and promote regional, national, and international collaboration.

The Research Director is responsible for defining and establishing the direction of the new research area in collaboration with the researchers to be recruited for the competence area, as well as in cooperation with other research groups. They will also oversee the successful implementation of the Value-added Sustainable Energy Business -project in collaboration with the project manager and the project team.

The Research Director will ensure the continuity of operations in terms of development, finances, and societal impact in collaboration with the project team members, the institute’s management, companies, other stakeholders, and the faculties of the University of Oulu, as well as Finnish and international universities and research organizations.

They will also participate as a member of the management team in developing the institute’s operations and collaboration among research groups.
