Crowning of the statue of Franzen

In Franzen Park on 30 April at 12 noon

The Guild of the Humanities of the University of Oulu traditionally crowns the statue of the poet Frans Mikael Franzén on the eve of May Day. The statue will be wearing a student cap in Franzen Park. The event is open to everyone and free of charge.


Teekkarikaste "in to the cold water"

Åströminpuisto, Mannenkatu 1, 30 April at 2 pm.

The students' May Day traditions include a "teekkarikaste" (dip in to the cold water) for 1st year university students in technology, freshmen, in Ainolanpuisto. Traditions also include a sparkling wine picnic in any weather. Starts at about 14.00.


May Day Market

At the market square on 30 April from 10 am to 2 pm and on 1 May from 10 am to 5 pm.

The May Day market event at Torinranta opens the summer season at Oulu Market Square. In addition to balloons and liquorice, the Vapputori outfit is completed by a student cap.


Cassiopeia Concert

On the steps of the City Hall on 1 May at 11 am

This year, Cassiopeia's traditional May Day greeting returns to its traditional place, and spring chords echo from the steps of the Oulu City Hall on May Day. Free admission.

Siisti Oulu garbage collection event in Mannerheim Park

Siisti Oulu garbage collection event in the center of Oulu on Friday, May 2nd, from 12-15! Come and clean up the garbage left after May Day together with students and staff.
