Project description
Developments in data communication technologies, such as 5G and the future 6G, enable new services that combine a broad range of physical and logical entities, including cloud, big data, AI, edge, and IoT.
To address the issues, the 6GVisible project aims at achieving the following three main goals: 1) Development of 6G-era service and architecture solutions utilizing autonomous and semi-autonomous driving as the case service, 2) as a part of the above goal integration of the physical and logical computational elements to a unified service deploying artificial intelligence and the enablers provided by the new network technologies, and 3) identifying and development of use cases for real-life verification and validation of the new networks and for fostering Finnish automotive, AI and network-related businesses.
To achieve the above goals, the 6GVisible project collaborates with the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) to study the deployment of weather and large-area traffic data to expand situational awareness that enhances autonomous driving. The research focuses on data collection and fusion, means and models for data-driven decision-making, and human-machine hybrid intelligence, as well as on software and system architectures that deliver results as services to guide the vehicle and/or driver to an optimal route, especially in demanding weather and driving conditions.
Six Finnish industrial companies serve as steering team partners for the project: Dimecc/Vamos, Elektrobit, Remoted, Siili Auto, Sitowise, and Spectacular AI.
