Materials for CO2-Neutral Processes in Resource-Intensive Industries
The key objective of MASCOT project is to generate a knowledge base on materials performance in the new operation conditions and thus to aid materials selection, design new product concepts and develop competence, knowledge, and know-how to derive and catalyze innovations in materials, design, manufacturing and processes. By joining forces, the multi-sectoral MASCOT consortium has capability to develop these innovations and accelerate them to the market, as the partners have diverse and complementing expertise, facilities and networks. The consortium covers an entire value chain, as it includes advanced materials producer, equipment and technology suppliers and renewable fuel and plastic raw material producer. The challenges related to the effects of hydrogen, its variants, halides and solid particles within process liquids are relevant in businesses, such as chemical industry, transportation, marine, pulp and paper, and metals industries. MASCOT is a tremendous opportunity for the consortium members to create new solutions and innovations much faster and more efficiently on the market than if acting separately. The project is expected to generate novel data and materials technology that will provide a competitive advantage for the Finnish industry, leading to new and increased export for Finnish companies.
