Project description

MetaHealthVerse, funded by the ELY Centre (JFT), and MetaHealthVerseTech, funded by the Council of Oulu Region (EAKR), are complementary projects aiming to develop innovative, accessible, and sustainably applicable virtual training solutions for social and healthcare education in Northern Finland. The projects address regional challenges such as long geographical distances, limited access to training, and the increasing competence requirements within social and healthcare services.

MetaHealthVerse project focuses on identifying education and competence development needs in the social and healthcare sector, developing pedagogical models, and piloting a virtual academy. The project establishes a pedagogical and operational framework for utilizing virtual learning environments as part of continuous professional development.

MetaHealthVerseTech complements this work by developing technological solutions that support pedagogical models. The project designs and pilots advanced virtual learning environments using, among other technologies, XR solutions, artificial intelligence, and digital twins, and demonstrates their applicability in practical education and development settings within the social and healthcare sector.

Project results

As a result of the project entity, the following outcomes will be achieved:

  • pedagogically sound and tested operational models for virtual training
  • functional and piloted virtual learning environments for social and healthcare education
  • implementation guidelines and operational models supporting long-term use
  • improved accessibility and flexibility of education, particularly in remote areas
  • strengthened regional competence, collaboration, and innovation capacity

Together, the projects ensure that the developed solutions are both pedagogically effective and technologically sustainable, easily scalable across different units, training needs, and target groups, and capable of supporting the development of social and healthcare education and competence beyond the project period.
