Project description
The project collects various actions that support research on radio propagation disturbances for the auroral zone.
- Ensure continuous data acquisition: Improve the security of supply for the Sodankylä ionosonde. Uninterrupted operation supports research on radio propagation conditions.
- Relocate software-defined radio receivers of the Sodankylä ionosonde: Spatiotemporal data improves situational awareness about ionospheric disturbances.
- Enable VLF measurements to identify natural sources of disturbances: Combined ground-based and satellite measurements enhance the temporal characterisation of ionospheric disturbances.
- Equip a computational research laboratory: The software-defined radio test bench supports developing of measurement methods. Computational resources enable analysis and simulation of time-dependent phenomena.
