Project description
OperaRI will extend scope of the RI in the domain of in-situ and operando characterisation to create a national RI with easy and open access, facilitated by the digital portal. This project provides the Finnish research community the tools required to address the main challenges of the green transition, especially H2 transition, and educating future experts.
The green and hydrogen transitions pose unprecedented challenges for the energy, raw materials and process industries. Green hydrogen production and new hydrogen-based processes and applications must be deployed in a very short time frame to meet climate goals. However, the efficiency of electrolysis should be improved and little is known about the interactions of hydrogen with key materials in our society, such as steel. Understanding these interactions is increasingly important for the development and commercialisation of efficient, reliable and safe hydrogen technologies.
Project actions
OperaRI offers efficient in-situ and operando research methods to achieve in-depth scientific understanding needed for the development of green and hydrogen technologies.
As part of the upgrades, the digital portal will be extended to include sample tracking capabilities. The system will be designed to enable tracking and recording of sample histories across multiple levels of characterisation, enhancing the digitalisation of research and supporting more efficient workflows and collaboration.
