The focus of Eija Pirinen research is to investigate molecular mechanisms behind diseases characterized with mitochondrial dysfunction and fibrosis such as obesity, cancer cachexia and inherited mitochondrial disorders. The overall goal of research is to develop novel mitochondria activating treatments for mitochondrial dysfunction.
