Jalal Jahanpanah is a PhD researcher at the University of Oulu, Faculty of Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering, within the Intelligent Work Machines (IWM) research environment.

Jalal’s doctoral research focuses on advanced battery thermal management and fast-charging technologies for lithium-ion batteries, with particular emphasis on electro-thermal-mechanical modelling, lithium plating mitigation, and thermal safety under extreme operating conditions. His work integrates physics-based battery modelling, experimental validation, and system-level analysis to support next-generation electric vehicle and energy storage applications. Jalal is actively involved in several European research initiatives and Horizon Europe proposals, contributing to topics such as battery digital twins, AI-driven testing, accelerated ageing, and functional safety.
