I work as a University Teacher in Music Education at the Research Unit of Early Childhood Education and Music Education (CHIMES), University of Oulu. I am a doctoral researcher in the DivE research group, where my research focuses on band pedagogy and the role of ear-based learning, transcription, and music technology in music teacher education.
In my doctoral research, I examine how informal learning practices and curriculum-based school music intersect in ensemble teaching, and what kinds of hybrid learning structures emerge within these environments.
Professionally, I am interested in developing band pedagogy, accessibility and inclusive learning environments, as well as the purposeful integration of music technology into teacher education. I have been involved in international collaboration, particularly between Finland, Japan, and South Africa, focusing on intercultural music teacher education and curriculum comparison.
