Marjo Ohtamaa

I am a university lecturer in the Swedish language, and in my dissertation I study Swedish-language letters to Santa written by children. Most of the letters used as research material come from Santa Claus’s archive (Joulupukin arkisto), but I am also collecting letters specifically from pupils in the 1st and 2nd grades, whom I will also interview. In this study, I am particularly interested in children’s early writing skills, the development of their writing abilities, and their language use.
