Dr. Nevalainen currently acts as part-time Associate Professor of Radiology at the Unit of Health Sciences and Technology, Oulu University and musculoskeletal radiologist at the Oulu University Hospital, Finland. Dr. Nevalainen received his Ph.D. at University of Oulu in the year 2013, and spent a post-doctoral year at the Department of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Intervention, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA during years 2014-2015. Board certification in radiology and the title of Docent (Adjunct Professor) he obtained in the year 2019, and completed his fellowship of musculoskeletal radiology in the year 2021. From the beginning the year 2023, he has acted as the Director of Radiology Residency program. Dr. Nevalainen has 36 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and 22 conference abstracts (H-index 10) , and actively conducts clinical research on musculoskeletal radiology. His main research interest is currently the development of novel imaging techniques (e.g. Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting and synthetic MRI) for daily clinical use in musculoskeletal practice. Other research focuses include imaging of the osteoarthritis, clinical applicability of artificial intelligence and various orthopedic / musculoskeletal projects.
