I am Md Moinul Islam, a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Oulu, Finland, affiliated with the Digital Waters (DIWA) Pilot Program. My research broadly focuses on multimodal machine learning, foundation models, and remote sensing, with applications spanning multimedia understanding, human-centric video analysis, and environmental monitoring.

I hold a Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Oulu, Finland (2023–2025) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh (2015–2019). Prior to my doctoral studies, I gained industry experience as a Technical Lead in data services, delivering machine learning solutions at scale in a professional setting.

My doctoral work specifically explores the intersection of socio-hydrology and computational intelligence, developing crowdsourcing pipelines that integrate citizen science contributions, social media streams, and open hydrological data to bridge the gap between human-observed environmental events and data-driven hydrological modeling, supported by geospatial preprocessing and reproducible experimentation infrastructure.

I aim to advance scalable and reproducible methodological frameworks that connect cutting-edge AI with real-world environmental challenges, contributing to the broader scientific understanding of water systems through interdisciplinary approaches.
