Kajaani University Consortium develops CleanTech knowledge
Organizer: University of Oulu, Kajaani University Consortium, CEMIS-Oulu
The aim: To create a service concept for bacterial recognition and profiling which produces new knowledge of industrial process control. The bacterial recognition is based on laboratorial DNA recognition where bacterial DNA is amplified (PCR), digested by DNA restriction enzymes and the size of formed fragments is analyzed in capillary electrophoresis.
The second aim of the project is to develop profiling methods for the bacterial recognition in forest and paper industry, mining industry, food industry and bioenergy industry. The project budget is 399 645 euros from which 85 percent is ESR funding. The responsible manager of the project is Vesa Virtanen and the project manager is Jouko Käsmä. The project is carried out in 2013–2015.
Partners are ST1 Biofuels Oy, Stora Enso Oy. Talvivaara Kaivososakeyhtiö Oyj, Prometec Solutions Oy ja Osuuskunta Ärmätti.
