Image guided therapy program
The research group is a member of the OASIS research consortium (Oulu Arthritis consortium – synergy is solution)
Group leader
Professor Roberto Blanco Sequeiros
What do we do
Our groups current research focus is to further expand image guided minimally therapy by appending molecular and cellular methods to the established interventional techniques, namely operative guidance and monitoring especially and in MRI particular.
This current research has several lines, of which the two most important ones are outlined here:
- Development of nanoparticle sized MRI-contrast agents and coating methods for cellular labelling, tissue engineering and cancer therapy targeting.
- Implementation, evaluation and development of minimally invasive, image guided and/or monitored cellular tissue regeneration methods and cancer treatment. Several methods for cellular therapy are being investigated, some with co-investigator groups. Here our group acts as a knowledgebase for molecular and cellular imaging. Cardiac, metabolic, MSK-events, breast cancer and renal cancer are being studied.
