Hanni Muukkonen in professor in Educational Psychology, joining the University of Oulu in 2016. She has graduated as a licensed psychologist in 1997 and got her PhD in Psychology in 2011, and the Title of Docent in 2013 from the University of Helsinki, Finland. She is director of the newly established Learning Sciences degree program.

Hanni’s main research areas are collaborative and technology-enhanced learning. Learning analytics is one key theme for research taking place in interdisciplinary and international teams. Artificial intelligence in education is a second key theme: the RESHAPE projects investigates how agencies are reshaped in collaborative learning with GenAI. The goal is to advance understanding and educational practices in higher education for learning design and educational technology development to support complex capabilities of collaboration and knowledge creation.

Hanni’s track record contains over 120 peer reviewed publications and a significant number of projects.
