Iida Kestilä received her MHSc degree in Medical and Wellness Technology at the University of Oulu in 2018. During her studies she worked as a research assistant in Prof. Simo Saarakkala's Diagnostics of Osteoarthritis Research Group in 2014-2018. She currently works to pursue a PhD degree in Medical Physics and Technology at the Research Unit of Medical Imaging, Physics and Technology, University of Oulu, under the supervision of Prof. Simo Saarakkala, Prof. Martin Englund (Lund University), and PhD Mikko Finnilä.

The topic of her PhD research is 3D quantification of human articular cartilage and meniscus microstructures in osteoarthritis.
