Biography
In my research I examine everyday interactions of Finns with Czech and Slovak immigrants in Finland. The focus of my doctoral thesis is on the multilingual and multimodal practices, which second language speakers use to form mutual understanding in face-to-face conversations. I am interested in investigating the role of bodily actions (such as hand gestures, gaze and facial expressions) in multilingual conversations, especially during code-switching, and in word search situations.
