Professor Johannes Kettunen is a Co-PI of the Computational Medicine Research Team, University of Oulu, Finland and holds an Academy of Finland Research Fellow position. He has a doctorate and a docentship in genetics. His research focuses on unifying large multiomics datasets and epidemiological data to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of common morbidities. He has led various studies in this area and published over 70 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Those papers have been cited over 10,000 times. One of his current hot topics is trying to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms behind systemic biomarkers that predict short-term mortality. He is also one of the principal investigators at the Biocenter Oulu (2016-).
