I received my M.Sc. degree in 1994 and Dr.Sc. in 2006 from University of Oulu. I have worked as a researcher and a project manager in several projects related to radio channel modelling, ultra wideband system (UWB) and medical ICT research. Currently my position is University Researcher. I am also Adjunct Professor (Docent). My Docentship relates to Wireless Body Area Networks.

I have 200+ International Journal and Conference papers. My H-index is 31, i10-index 106 and publications are cited 5113 times according to Google Scholar (23.8.2023).

I was the General Chair of Bodynets 2018 conference held in Oulu on Oct. 2-3, 2018.

I am belonging to the Editorial Board of Annals of Telecommunications and being an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and Frontiers in Communcations and Networks - Non-Conventional Communications and Networks section. I am also Co-Chair of the International Steering Committee of the IEEE International Symposium on Medical Information and Communications Technology (ISMICT) and Steering Committee Member of EAI Body Area Networks (Bodynets) conference series.
