Education description
After successfully completing the course, the doctoral researcher is able to outline the four dimensions of sustainability (ecological, economic, social and cultural) and root causes for the urgent sustainability transition need. The doctoral researcher knows the contents of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is able to analyze how his/her research relates to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from both local and global perspectives. In addition, the doctoral researcher is able to explain the principles of sustainability assessment and sustainability assessment methods, such as Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and has skills to assess the sustainability of his/her research.
Content: Concept and dimensions of sustainability. Root causes for the sustainability transition need. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with SDGs. Analysis of the relation between SDGs and an individual research project. Principles of sustainability assessment. Sustainability assessment methods. Sustainability assessment of an individual research project.
Implementation: Lectures, assignments, and exercise related to an individual research project (portfolio).
