The critical changelabs were organised as part of the school courses on Information and Communication Technologies with a focus on digital wellbeing and as part of a multidisciplinary module dedicated to tolerance. At the workshops, students worked together with University of Oulu researchers, teachers and community organizations such as the multicultural center Villa Victor and the international association Designing for Children’s Rights to explore issues they see in their everyday life and develop innovative solutions for these issues. Villa Victor staff shared their knowledge about racism and its causes, which helped participants create designs to prevent discrimination and promote inclusion. They also got to see youth present their prototype concepts and give feedback to their designs. Members of Designing for Children’s Rights supported the process by sharing the association’s design principles focused on protecting children's rights.

This exhibition is a visual summary of the students’ journey from identifying challenges to imagining digital tools that create safer and more welcoming communities. Join us to experience the journey of rethinking the future of social media and advance toward a more just and inclusive society!
