Thursday 5.2. at 17:00 in Pegasus Library's Maisemasali (3rd floor)

Metalhead (2013) is a dark-toned Icelandic drama (comedy) directed by Ragnar Bragason. The film follows a young woman, Hera (Þóra Björg Helga), as she copes with the tragic loss of her brother by embracing heavy metal music. While life seems to stand still in a remote Icelandic village, the world gradually opens up through music. The film explores grief, rebellion, and the search for identity against the backdrop of Iceland’s stark landscape.

Language of the film: Icelandic (subtitles: English)
Duration of the film: 1h 37 min + discussion about 20 minutes

Note! The event is prohibited for those under 18 years of age, as the film is not age-rated.

The film screening will feature expert guests Asse Martikainen and Tuomas Niemelä from Oulu Museum's upcoming Metallikausi (Fin. Metal Era) exhibition, who will discuss the themes of the film after the screening. Asse Martikainen has graduated as a subject teacher in history and social studies from the University of Oulu. In his master's thesis in history, he studied extreme metal music from 1988 to 1995 in Oulu. Tuomas Niemelä's background is mainly in folkloristics and community pedagogy. For the Metal Age exhibition, he has drawn up a research and implementation plan, the core of which is building an exhibition to interact with the community. Asse and Tuomas are also long-time heavy music enthusiasts.

Seats cannot be reserved, the first 60 people will be admitted.
