The Festival of Cultures is part of the University of Oulu’s home internationalization initiative, aimed at promoting cultural awareness and creating enriching international experiences. The goal is to celebrate the multicultural and international, yet distinctly Oulu-based academic community. The event is organized in collaboration with the University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences as well as the Student Union of the University of Oulu (OYY) and Oulu University of Applied Science’s student union (OSAKO).
If you’re a student or a staff member at the University of Oulu or Oulu University of Applied Sciences, you can participate in organizing the week’s program as part of culture teams that are responsible for most events of the week. Registration for the culture teams is currently open until October 5.
The Festival of Cultures has been organized annually since 2016 and is familiar to many students and staff members. For 2025, the concept and format of the event will be completely renewed, so we recommend attending the info session even if you have participated in the event in previous years.
The info session will cover for example:
- What the Festival of Cultures is
- What culture teams are and how can you join one
- What will the Festival of Cultures look like this year and how it differs from the previous years
The info session will be held in English. In the info session, you can also ask questions from the festival coordination team. If you already have some questions before the info session or you can’t attend the session, feel free to send your questions to festivalofcultures@oulu.fi.
We kindly ask you to register for the info session beforehand so that correct amount of coffee can be arranged.
