Strategy of the Faculty of Education and Psychology
The Faculty of Education and Psychology promotes multidisciplinary research that encompasses human mind and behavior, learning, teaching, and the value foundations in education. The strength of our degree programs is our renewing research, which enables us to influence society while taking the changing needs of the future into account. We are constantly developing our teaching and learning practices, utilizing the latest opportunities offered by technological development. We are committed to the well-being, equality, and mutual sense of appreciation of our community.
Strategic goals
Research
We contribute to international top-level research in four focus areas:
- multidisciplinary research on learning, interaction, and collaboration in co-evolution with technologies
- teachers, their professional growth, and relationships in educational communities
- theoretical, ecological, and social values and foundations of education
- predictors and outcomes of psychological and neurocognitive characteristics, behaviors, and symptoms in humans
Education
Through our wide and research-based education offering in the fields of education and psychology, we create a more enlightened society together with the students, staff, and stakeholders. Our research-based degree programs enable a student-centered study path as part of a multidisciplinary and internationally networked scientific community. Our graduates have the ability to identify social phenomena and the courage to act sustainably and responsibly in a changing society. In addition to degree education, we respond to the competence needs of working life by producing and implementing scalable and need-based education solutions.
Societal interaction and impact
Our stakeholder co-operation is based on extensive interaction with the public sector, other higher education institutions, businesses, and the third sector. We recognize our opportunities and responsibilities to influence social phenomena and scientific policy debate. Responsibility for education and well-being is part of the Faculty’s research, education, and development work.
Well-being of the community
Our Faculty is built on open leadership, respect for others, mutual encounters, and equality. Students and staff share a collaborative academic culture. Digitalization and collaborative work methods increase the flexibility of work and study. The development of the Faculty is determined, planned, and clearly led.
