25 new doctoral researchers selected to I4WORLD programme

International, Intersectoral and Interdisciplinary Imaging and Characterisation for a Sustainable World (I4WORLD) doctoral programme has selected the 25 doctoral researchers for four-year doctoral researcher positions at the University of Oulu.

The programme received a total of 244 applications from 48 different countries by the end of January, 2023. Eligible applications were evaluated by international external experts, after which the 36 shortlisted candidates were interviewed.

Based on the evaluations and interviews, the doctoral positions were offered to the top 25 candidates. The selection was done based on the excellency of the candidates and their proposed work. Doctoral researchers represent nine different nationalities, nine of them are females and 16 males. The research projects represent all the I4WORLD research themes. Good Health and Wellbeing theme will have 7 research projects, Affordable and Clean Energy 4, Sustainable Industries and Production 9 and Clean Water, Biodiversity and Environment 5. All the projects will start before September 2023.

I4WORLD - Imaging and Characterisation for a Sustainable World (2022-2027) is a new doctoral programme within a well-established doctoral training environment at the University of Oulu in Finland co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Co-funding of regional, national, and international programmes (COFUND).
