Boost for student startup ideas this summer – OuluES launches the LaunchX 2026 accelerator
Many students have great business ideas that never move beyond the concept stage. To lower the barrier to getting started, Oulu Entrepreneurship Society (OuluES) was founded in 2011. This summer, OuluES is organizing a startup accelerator called LaunchX, aimed at helping student teams to turn projects from ideas on the desk into real, tangible businesses.
LaunchX is a program where participants work on their own business ideas. The focus is on validating the idea, building a working solution and developing the business together with real customers. The program is designed especially for student teams that share a common direction and the ambition to take their project to the next level.
Many teams have strong ideas and solid skills, but progress often stalls due to lack of time or an unclear direction. The purpose of LaunchX is to create an environment where action comes before planning. Where things are actually built and tested, not just discussed.
During the program, teams receive support from experienced startup professionals, mentors, and industry experts. Participants also get the opportunity to network with other teams, investors and the broader Oulu startup ecosystem. The goal is to turn ideas into viable businesses and to strengthen the visibility of student entrepreneurship in Oulu.
LaunchX is organized in collaboration with University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
OuluES is a student-led organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship and startup culture in Oulu, particularly among students. LaunchX is part of its activities offering students the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship with a low barrier but serious intent.

Proof of Concept -funding
Up to €5,000 Proof of Concept funding is available to students of the University of Oulu for prototyping and testing eligible business ideas. It is recommended to get in touch with the Innovation Centre well in advance of the programme, so that any potential funding applications can be processed before the summer holiday period.
