A donation of EUR 50,000 from the Foundation of Economic Education to the University of Oulu

The Foundation of Economic Education donates 50,000 euros to the University of Oulu School of Economics.

The donation criteria were the academic success of universities in scientific research, their social impact as measured by the number of master´s and doctor´s degrees, and the donations received with the contribution of the Regional committees of the Foundation of Economic Education in 2012–2021.

“This is great news and we gratefully accept the donation. We greatly appreciate the long-term support of the Foundation of Economic Education for research and education in business and economics”, says Janne Järvinen, Dean of the University of Oulu Business School.

The Foundation of Economic Education donates a total of EUR 2.5 million to business and economic sciences in Finnish universities.

The donation is entitled to state matched funding. Sitra co-finances donations made by foundations, companies and individuals to universities. The donor can direct a donation of at least 10,000 euros to the development of the desired field of education. The state matched funding period will continue until the end of June 2022.

In 2016–2017, the Foundation of Economic Education donated 5 million euros to universities according to similar criteria. The fund's annual grants are approximately EUR 5 million. The focus areas of the grant activities are Data Economy, Leadership Competence, Business Renewal, Future Sustainable Environment and Entrepreneurship, Scaling and Growth.
