Health Dimensions opens call for research visits
The visitor programme is targeted to support a collaborative research visit with a clear link to multimorbidity and to at least one of the four Health Dimensions sub-themes.
Incoming research visits
We invite postdoctoral scholars or professors from other research institutions in Finland or abroad to spend a research period at the University of Oulu and take part in the activities of the Health Dimensions programme and the visitor’s host unit. This funding can be applied either
- directly by the external researcher with pre-established connection to Oulu-based hosting researcher, or
- by an Oulu-based Health Dimensions associated Principal Investigator (PI) to invite a named external researcher to visit Oulu in order to collaborate on research.
In both cases, the Oulu-based hosting PI must commit to the University of Oulu visiting researcher guidelines (internal link).
Visiting researchers are expected to give an open presentation for the University of Oulu researchers and students or participate in other knowledge-sharing activities within the university. After the visit, a brief report is required.
Outgoing research visits
This funding is available to researchers from doctoral researchers and postdocs to professors at the University of Oulu who plan to visit another research institution in Finland or abroad.

Health Dimensions
HEALTH-DIMENSIONS – Multidimensional big data and life-course health: from molecules to society - is one of the three multidisciplinary research programmes supported by the Research Council of Finland PROFI8 funding during 2025-2030. The research community extends to several faculties and research areas from medicine, biochemistry and molecular medicine to human, education and ICT sciences.
The programme explores the complex multidimensional nature of human health. Health Dimensions focuses on the fundamental causes of diseases and multimorbidity during the life-course and adds a new dimension towards the use of big data in building future health as well as social and health care.
