Library’s summer 2026

There will be changes to the Oulu University Library’s services and opening hours from the beginning of June through the end of August. Please remember that the library’s e-resources and online services in Oula-Finna are available to you 24/7, also during the summer and holidays! 

Exceptional summertime opening hours and closures

During the summer season, libraries have shorter opening hours and there are also changes to self-service times, see Library opening hours in summer 1.6.–31.8.2026 for details. You can also check the libraries’ daily opening hours in Oula-Finna or in the students’ Tuudo mobile application.

Summer closures in the libraries:

  • Pegasus Library is closed 19.6. and 11.7.–2.8.
  • Medical Library is closed 19.6.–2.8. 
  • Health and Social Care Library is closed 12.6., 19.6. and 27.6.–2.8. 

Please note! All our libraries are closed on summer weekends (Sat-Sun).

No due dates in July

Loans will not be renewed automatically in summer (except for the staff of University of Oulu and Oamk), but due dates will not fall on dates in July; at the end of June, due dates will jump to the beginning of August (provided there are no reservations for the borrowed material concerned).

Please remember to renew or return your loans before they are due! You can check your due dates and renew your loans via Oula-Finna or student’s Tuudo mobile app anywhere and anytime.

Library return boxes (for returning books when the library is closed):

  • The Pegasus Library and Medical Library book return slots are in use and you can return items to them throughout the summer.
  • The Health and Social Care Library return box in the lobby of the Paasi building is available during the summer only when the campus is open. Students of Oamk or OSAO Kontinkangas unit who have purchased a separate electronic access key can return items using the library’s self-service machine also outside of library hours.

Items left in the returns box are checked in on the next date the library is open. See the locations of the return boxes.

Pegasus Library information service point opening hours:

  • 1.–21.6 regular semester opening hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–15:00)
    Exceptions:
    Fri 12.6. self-service in the library; no information service
    Fri 19.6. library is closed; no information service
  • 22.6.–10.7. open Mon–Fri 11:00–14:00
  • 11.7.–2.8. library is closed
  • 3.8.–16.8. open Mon–Fri 11:00–14:00
  • Starting 17.8. regular semester opening hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–15:00)

Research support, theses and publishing services

  • Publishing support of Oulu University theses (openpublishing@oulu.fi) is closed 22.7.–2.8.
  • Publishing support and handling of the Oamk theses are closed 3.–31.7.
  • The editorial office of Oamk Journal is closed 6.–31.7. Oamk staff can send publication proposals to julkaisut@oamk.fi throughout the summer, and their processing will continue in August.
  • Submission of publication information services (OuluCRIS support) is closed 29.6.–31.7.
  • Self-archiving services are closed 6.–26.7.
  • Open science services are closed 13.–26.7.
  • Bibliometric services are closed 6.–31.7.
  • Support for the publishing of doctoral theses (Acta series) is closed 29.6.–2.8. More information: Publishing in the series Acta Universitatis Ouluensis in summer 2026.
