Mailing List Service Partially Restored; Updates Continue Until Friday Morning

The University of Oulu’s mailing list server is undergoing a multi‑day migration to a new server. Email delivery to the lists was still not working on Tuesday, but the service is now partially restored and messages can already be sent.

The migration began on Friday, 30 January 2026 at 18:00. According to the original estimate, the migration was supposed to be completed by Monday morning, but it turned out to be slower than expected. Earlier, we estimated that the lists would be functioning on Tuesday, but this turned out to be overly optimistic. According to the new estimate, the service will operate normally again starting Friday, 6 February 2026. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected slowness of the update.

Status update 4 February 2026 at 9:30:

It is now possible to send messages to the mailing lists, meaning that any emails you send to a list will be delivered to its subscribers normally. However, everything is not yet fully functioning, because some of the mailing lists’ own automated messages are still not getting through. For example, if someone registers an account, the confirmation email is still not being delivered. We will inform you separately here in Patio once everything is working again.
