Academy of Finland grants funding for a project in Tampere university. The project has a main focus in biodegradable electronics. The project is led by Matti Mäntysalo (Tampere university) and Jaakko Leppäniemi (VTT Technical research center of Finland Ltd) and it has a goal of developing high-frequency components and electronic circuits for wireless sensor tags with plant-based and plant-nutrient materials. Low-temperature printing and film deposition methods are used and developed during the project for material and energy savings.
