Resilience Oulu Academy Mobility (ROAM) funding for outgoing research visits

Frontiers of Arctic and Global Resilience (FRONT) and the Resilience Academy of Oulu (RAO) invite applications for outgoing research visits under the Resilience Oulu Academy Mobility (ROAM) programme.

FRONT Profi7 research programme and the Resilience Academy of Oulu RAO at the University of Oulu, Finland, opens the visitor programme ROAM for applications. The purpose of this call is to support researchers in strengthening international collaboration, advancing resilience research, and building long-term academic networks through mobility.

Please note that in this specific call only outgoing research visits are funded: we offer Oulu-based researchers the possibility to visit national and international universities and research institutes. The amount of the grant is max €3000 per month. Outgoing visits are reimbursed based on travel and accommodation costs.

The length of the visit can be from 14 to 30 working days. The grants cover travel expenses and accommodation costs, excluding salary. Please note that daily allowances are not covered.

We ask the applicants and potential visitors to follow the guidelines and principles for applying for a visiting scholar grant:

  1. The research visit corresponds to a period during which the applicant will carry out research related to the core FRONT themes at a university or research organisation. Visits can be international or national (e.g., between Finnish universities); however, international mobility is strongly encouraged.
  2. The length of the visit can be between 14 and 30 working days.
  3. Visiting scholar grants can be awarded to the University of Oulu’s doctoral researchers, postdoctoral researchers, university researchers, and professors.
  4. The application must be submitted before the visit. Visiting scholar grants are not awarded retroactively.
  5. The grant must be used for the purpose for which it has been awarded and it must be used by 30 June 2027. Changes are not allowed after the grant has been awarded.
  6. The applicants’ research profile needs to be connected to at least one of the core themes of the FRONT research programme.
