Results of the Second Funding Call: Field-Specific Doctoral Courses and Other Activities for 2026 (ITEE-DEC)
The University of Oulu’s second internal funding call for field-specific doctoral courses and other activities supporting doctoral training was open from 2 March to 1 April 2026. Funding decisions were made by the the Doctoral Education Committees for Human Sciences (HS-DEC) and Technology and Natural Sciences (TNS-DEC) at their meetings held on 21–22 April 2026. The Doctoral Education Committee for Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE-DEC) postponed its funding decisions to its next meeting, held on 20 May 2026.
The evaluation focused particularly on the relevance, quality, and cost-effectiveness of the proposed activities. In its meeting on 20 May 2026, the ITEE-DEC awarded funding to 5 field-specific activities primarily intended for doctoral researchers at the University of Oulu.

- Two day-course on Interactive Storytelling using AI and Tangible Interactions, Sumita Sharma
- Doctoral course on Learning Visual Intelligence: Foundations and Applications of Computer Vision, Guoying Zhao
- AI-Driven Behavioural Interventions: Causal Identification, Heterogeneous Effects, and Adaptive Policy Design, Mehrdad Rostami
- Energy-Aware Ambient IoT, Onel López
