The University Board decided on the education offering and student intake numbers
No significant changes were made to the education offering. The decrease in student intake places for 2027 is mainly due to adjustments in open pathway and transfer application intake places in the fields of technology and computing, to better align with the estimated number of students expected to be admitted.
Amendments to the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings entered into force on 1 July 2025. From the University’s perspective, the most significant change is the halving of the statutory timeframes for change negotiations. Due to the legislative change, the University Board updated the policy related to change negotiations.
The University Board decided that, going forward, the Rector will decide, when necessary, to initiate change negotiations on financial or production-related grounds and will decide on actions following the negotiations. If the anticipated staff impacts affect more than ten people, the decision to initiate change negotiations will be made by the University Board. The Board will also decide on initiating negotiations when the grounds relate to the University’s strategic objectives, significant agreements, or changes to the operating structure.
In addition, the Board:
- decided that the Vice Rectors will be invited to Board meetings starting on 1 March
- appointed a working group from among its members to prepare nominations for members of the Board of the University of Oulu Scholarship Foundation
- confirmed BDO Audiator Oy as the audit firm for the University of Oulu Scholarship Foundation for 2026
- noted the University’s data protection annual report
- noted the 2025 report of the Whistleblower reporting channel
