University Gala was precious with Award Ceremony

The University of Oulu Gala was held for a 6th time on Friday, 11 November 2021 with 120 guests. The University Main Building had been decorated for the event. The gala was first organised in the autumn of 2015 as a benefit for a fundraising campaign at the time. Now the event has evolved into an annual University Gala held on the second Friday of November.
Alumn of the Year

A joint gala dinner with the friends of University of Oulu, Oulu University gala, was held on Friday 12. November. At this year's gala, achievements of current and former members of the university community were highlighted.

The University of Oulu Association named professional board member Kaisa Hietala as the University of Oulu's Alumn of the Year for 2021. Kaisa Hietala is an experienced business leader who has sought in her work to combine environmental challenges and business activities.

The Pentti Kaitera award was handed over to the Domestication in Action research team. The group is investigating the interaction between reindeer and human. This internationally recognized project concerns especially Northern Finland and Lapland, and benefits especially the life and travel in Lapland. The award was received by associate professor Anna-Kaisa Salmi, the leader of the research group.

Dinner speech was held by our Guest of Honor Kaisa Hietala, Board Professional, named at the Alumni of the Year.
