The University of Oulu receives nearly 15 million euros in research funding from the Research Council of Finland

The University of Oulu has been granted a total of 5,649,277 euros for academy research fellowships and a total of 9,293,998 euros for academy projects in the latest call of the Research Council of Finland.

The funding enables nine academy researcher positions and a total of 18 projects. In addition, funding was granted for one clinical researcher position.

The Research Council of Finland made the decisions in June, 2025.

The academy research fellowship funding is intended for young researchers who have advanced rapidly in their careers and are internationally networked, and who conduct scientifically high-quality, impactful, and innovative research.

The academy project funding is used for hiring research teams and other research expenses. Among the principal investigators of the funded projects are researchers at various stages of their careers.

Both the academy researcher and the academy project funding are granted for a period of four years. The granted funding is directed to research organisations that manage the use of the funding and are responsible for compliance with the funding conditions, including research safety. The Research Council of Finland monitors the impact of the research it funds.
