Welcome to follow the live streaming from the Opening Ceremony on 5 Sept at 3.15 pm

The Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2022–2023 of the University of Oulu will be held on the 5th of September 2022 at 3.15 pm. You are welcome to follow the live streaming of the joint celebration of the entire university community.

The programme includes speeches, peeks into the research at the University of Oulu and music by the Ensemble of the University of Oulu Chamber Orchestra. We will also award distinguished members of the University community. The Finnish government’s address to the University will be given by Hanna Sarkkinen, Minister of Social Affairs and Health, and students’ address by Lotta Leinonen, Chair of the Board of the Student Union. The language is mostly Finnish.

The academic procession of the professors opens the ceremony and you are welcome to follow the procession to Linnanmaa Campus. The procession proceeds through the campus from Virransilta to Saalastinsali along Väylä beginning at 3.10 pm.

The ecumenical service for the opening of the academic year takes place in St. Luke’s Chapel before the opening ceremony at 1.30 pm. The programme of the opening week includes also Hurmos, the opening event of students.
