Oulu University Collegium

The Collegium of University of Oulu is a 24-member body in which various groups of the university community are represented. Its role is, among other things, to confirm the university's financial statements and annual report, and to decide on the number of members of the board and length of term.

University Collegium 2018–2021

Of the University Collegium members, 10 represent professors, 7 represent other teachers, scholars, as well as other staff and 7 represent students. The term of office of the student members of the University Collegium is two years and four years for the other members.

The university collegium is chaired by Juhani Niskanen and vice-president is Pirkko Viitala.

Tasks of university collegium include:

  • making decisions on the number of members in the Board and the duration of the Board’s and its members’ term of office
  • appointing members from outside the university community to the university Board
  • confirming the university community groups' selections as Board members
  • releasing Board members from their positions based on a proposal by the Board
  • appointing the university auditors
  • confirming the university's financial statements and annual report, as well as decide on granting a discharge from liability for Board members and the Rector
  • deciding on filing an action for damages against a Board member, the Rector, and the auditor
  • deciding to relieve a Board member of his or her duties.
