Human Cognition in System Design for Human AI Shared Regulation of Learning (HSHARED)

As AI becomes central to society and the workplace, it is reshaping work practices and driving demand for a new workforce. Consequently, information systems design needs to incorporate both human cognition and AI processes to effectively address emerging social and business needs. HSHARED introduces a novel socio-technical model for the shared regulation of learning by both humans and AI agents.

Project description

As AI becomes central to society and the workplace, it is reshaping work practices and driving demand for a new workforce. Consequently, information systems design needs to incorporate both human cognition and AI processes to effectively address emerging social and business needs. This interdisciplinary project Human Cognition in System Design for Human‑AI Shared Regulation of Learning (HSHARED) introduces a novel socio-technical framework that supports the shared regulation of learning by both humans and AI agents. Drawing on insights from information systems, learning sciences, and AI research, the project proposes design solutions that enhance learners’ self-regulatory capabilities in AI-integrated environments and facilitate effective human-AI collaboration. The outcomes of this study are expected to offer practical guidelines for educational technologists and system developers, aiding in the creation of robust digital learning environments suited to an increasingly digital workplace.
