Project description
More and more companies in Oulu see the lack of new talent as an obstacle to growth. A possible solution for this can be found in the educational institutes of the region. There were ca. 1100 international degree students in the Oulu region in 2019. But, as it is, local companies and international talent cannot necessarily find each other. The goal of the project is to clarify the employment paths for international talent already existing in Finland and promote their employment with companies in the region. Actions will be taken to strengthen the recognisability of the Oulu region and its attraction amongst international talent by communicating aspects such as the career opportunities offered by the region.
New policies will be created in the project to involve companies more strongly in the curriculum of international talent at an early stage of their studies. Concrete actions for matchmaking between companies and students include general info sessions, themed matchmaking events and company visits. Different events will be arranged according to an annual clock as a continuous and planned activity.
Attention will be paid in the project also to the internationalisation readiness of companies along with the added value that international talent will bring to their business. Companies will be supported in recognising and utilising this potential. Moreover, the project aspires to affect the general attitudes of companies and their ability to recruit international talent.

Participants will gradually build their portfolios throughout the workshops.
During the workshops, participants will enrich their job-seeking and professional branding skills while getting useful tips from career experts.
Upon successful completion of the training sessions, participants will receive:
- An Oulu Talent Hub “Work-Ready” Certificate, which they can show to future employers to demonstrate their competence and skills!
- A thank you gift bag

Project results
As a result of the project, an ecosystem-type network and operational model will be created to collect and develop regional opportunities and services linked with international recruitment. The project will help international talent and companies find each other faster than before, and the talent will settle in and find employment in the region. With the project’s actions, Oulu will become an increasingly attractive alternative amongst international talent.
