Research group description

  • Designs well‑defined complexes of abundant transition metals and selected main‑group elements, using tailored ligand frameworks (mesoionic carbenes, pincer systems) to precisely control structure and reactivity.
  • Investigates how these complexes bind small molecules (NH₃, N₂, CO₂, H₂), weaken their strong internal bonds, and mediate controlled chemical transformations.
  • Integrates synthetic chemistry with structural and spectroscopic analysis, mechanistic studies and photochemical methods to understand and optimise bond‑activation processes.
  • Aims to uncover new principles of small‑molecule activation and to develop homogeneous catalysts that convert simple feedstocks into more complex, value‑added products efficiently and sustainably.
